Asteroids are minor planets orbiting our Sun. Most of them are in the asteroid belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. Ceres is the largets of all known asteroids (Diameter: 950 km)

Ceres is the first asteroid discovered by man (by Piazzi in 1801). Vesta is the brightest and second largest asteroid. In ideal conditions, Vesta can be seen from earth with naked eye.

about 75% of known asteroids are of C-type asteroids about 17% of known asteroids are of S-type asteroids. Ceres is a G-type asteroid. Vesta is a V-type asteroid
